Rabbit Policies

For pets:

  • Californian rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old. Adopting a pet rabbit is a long-term commitment.

  • While rabbits (especially Californians) are generally considered easy to care for, they are not “pocket pets” or cage-only animals. They do need socialization, exercise, and entertainment to stay healthy and happy.

  • Consider adopting a pet rabbit with the same approach you would for a dog or a cat. Many people are surprised by the amount of care, equipment, cost, and other responsibility that comes with owning a pet rabbit.

  • Pet rabbits are consistently listed as the third most abandoned pet in the US. Please thoroughly research rabbits and what it takes to care for them prior to adoption.

Breeding Trios:

  • Breeding trios consist of one buck and two does and is the most common starting point for the purpose of home meat production.

  • While not strictly necessary, some people like their rabbits to come from unrelated sources and we are happy to accommodate individual rabbits if you are sourcing from multiple breeders.

All rabbits:

  • Our rabbits are $25 each.

  • We will ask questions about your setup. Please be prepared to share. We reserve the right to refuse sale for any reason.

  • We are happy to share our set up and will allow you to see the rabbits upon visiting. However, for the health and safety of our rabbits we do not allow personal interaction.

  • We will answer questions to the best of our abilities or provide resources to help. Many links are shared on the rabbit page of our website already. Please take your time researching. Rabbit ownership is not to be entered into lightly.

  • We guarantee the health of our rabbits within 7 days of rehoming.

    • Moving causes rabbits stress. Some rabbits may refuse food or water for a brief time. If they are not eating and drinking normally by the third day, please contact us.

    • Approach a new rabbit with the 3-3-3 rule. The first 3 days are for decompressing. The first 3 weeks are for exploring. The first 3 months are for __.

    • If issues arise at any point during the first seven days, please contact us as soon possible so that we can help.

  • We typically have litters 4 times a year, born in March, June, September, and December. Rabbits are usually ready to move to their permanent homes at about 8 weeks, which typically works out to be in May, August, November, and February. Available rabbits are often spoken for quickly - Please plan to contact us in advance. Note: Not all rabbits will be available for adoption (we select based on breed specifications, temperament, health, etc.). We will also help select the right rabbit for your needs/purpose, even if that means recommending that you wait for a future litter!
